We will be at the leading trade fair for nutrition in Cologne
The Anuga trade fair in Cologne, which takes place every two years, is considered by many to be the largest food trade fair in the world and is a very important industry event in 2023 that should definitely not be missed. That is why the company Dr. Willi Knoll GmbH & Co. KG has largely opted for active participation. In pavilion 10.2, in aisle B - at stand no. 059, visitors will find everything about the best potato products. The specialist from Krumbach, Bavaria, presents itself with a comprehensively modernised and fresh brand presence, starting with the logo and the design of the packaging to a completely revised website. We are presenting our entire range of potato products in a completely new look at the Cologne trade fair: from dumplings, rösti, gnocchi, fried potatoes, dumplings, potato gratin, bread dumplings, potato pancakes to our filled dumplings and gnocchi. Instead of the usual sales catalogue, the Bavarian company, which has always been environmentally conscious, now relies on a QR code that takes the consumer to an interactive page with information and animations. Here, the Dr. Willi Knoll products and all their characteristics are explained in an interesting and entertaining way.
Anuga
A little History
The Anuga trade fair is considered the largest food fair in the world and is the industry get-together of the year. That is why Josef Maier, Europe's leading game processor and importer, is also extensively represented. In Hall 6, at Stand 049, visitors will find everything they need to know about the best game meat. The market leader from the Bavarian town of Bad Wörishofen is presenting a completely new brand identity, ranging from the product design to the website.
Josef Maier is also presenting his products in Cologne in a completely new look. Instead of the usual sales catalogue, the Bavarian company is now using a so-called magalogue, which provides interesting and entertaining information about the company in magazine form and at the same time attractively presents the extensive product portfolio as a catalogue.
ANUGA, which stands for Allgemeine Nahrungs- und Genussmittel-Ausstellung (General Food and Drink Exhibition), can now look back on a history of more than 100 years. The first edition of the trade fair took place in 1919 - in Stuttgart and not in Cologne. It was organised in conjunction with the 12th congress of the Reichsverband deutscher Feinkostkaufleute. They wanted a joint industry meeting to discuss innovations and developments. In the following years, ANUGA first moved to Munich, Hanover, Berlin and Magdeburg. In Cologne, it was held for the first time in 1924, on an area of 10,000 square metres and with around 40,000 visitors. This was the largest and most successful ANUGA ever up to that time, so that it was decided to retain the Cologne location for it.

During the Second World War, ANUGA, like many other things, had to take a break. There was a resumption - in Cologne - in 1951. The organiser at that time was the Hauptverband des Deutschen Lebensmittelhandels, which is now known as Handelsverband Deutschland. An area of 52,000 square metres could already be used for this exhibition. More than 1200 exhibitors from 34 countries appeared at the new edition and more than 250,000 visitors flocked to the exhibition grounds. Due to the great success, it was subsequently decided to keep ANUGA in a two-year rhythm in the future. Over the years, the range of products, the exhibition space and also the number of exhibitors were constantly expanded. In 1961, for example, the German confectionery industry participated in the fair for the first time. Over the years, the organisers succeeded in developing ANUGA into the world's largest leading trade fair for the food and beverage industry. The fair has retained this status to this day. Since 2007, there is still the current division with the ten trade fairs, all under one roof.
At the planned edition in October this year, Anuga will be a hybrid event for the first time. Not only can it be visited directly in Cologne, but with the Anuga@home offer there will also be a large number of digital programme points to which interested parties from all over the world can connect.
